Domain Power Tools You Need To Know About – FreshDrop

I have been buying expired domains for years, and like many of you I have my own specific criteria that I use when evaluating an expired domain. We all look for different things, some people focus on search volume, others on CPC, and in many cases we all have our niches that we know the best.

What this usually means is that when evaluating expired domains you hop around from site to site looking up data. Here’s the problem, building the perfect tool for yourself really involves starting your own software company, which isn’t exactly an overnight thing.

While many people have built tools there are only a few out there that have stood the test of time and one of the most rock-solid solutions out there is Los Angeles-based FreshDrop, one of the first commercially available centralized search engines for domains.

Okay, enough about what FreshDrop is, let’s get under the hood and show you what it can do. One of the first things you’ll notice when you go to the FreshDrop site is a quick access panel that can allow you to instantly narrow your search results.

I have used a lot of tools and FreshDrop takes the cake for instant access to common search criteria. This alone has saved me an incredible amount of time.

As you can see from the image above, if you want to narrow your search to CVCV domains, just click the “CVCV” button and the results in the lower pane will update. Looking for Finance domains? There’s a button for that too. Just like there’s an app for everything under the sun, FreshDrop has a button for just about any domain you could be looking for.

But what if you want to go deeper and really tune the results based on the type of domains that you buy? This is where the platform really shines. On the right-hand side you will find a list of parameters you can fine-tune to get results that exactly match the criteria you are looking for. Only want domains with PR 2 or higher? Looking for aged domains? Want the name listed in the Yahoo Directory? You can find tune all of these options and much more.

As you can see from the above screenshot you can refine your search by every metric you could ever want. You can then easily save your filters for later so you can easily perform the same search in the future.

FreshDrop connects with a ton of marketplaces so whether you’re a Snapnames geek or a NameJet fanatic, you can access them all and apply your custom filters to hone in on the exact domains you are looking for.

Now I want to take a step back from the technology and look at what matters a whole heck of a lot to me, the people. FreshDrop is run by Tan Tran who I met for the first time at our very first Southern California Domainer MeetUp. Since then I’ve had a chance to really get to know Tan and I can tell you he is one of the most stand-up guys in the industry and a brilliant Domainer himself.

Tan offered his own home as the venue for our last Southern California Domainer MeetUp. At the event one of our members expressed issues with FreshDrop’s pricing, he told Tan that he had used the service and really liked it but felt the price was just too high.

Normally when I see companies get feedback like this they say, “Thanks, we’ll take this into consideration” and nothing happens. Shortly after the MeetUp FreshDrop announced a massive price decrease bringing the price down from $98.95/month to $19.95/month, yes, that is one heck of a price drop and it was inspired directly by customer feedback.

I highly recommend that you go check-out FreshDrop, it saves a ton of time and offers power tools that can be used by beginners and power users alike. Stay-tuned as I will be sharing some in-depth case studies taking you deeper under the hood.
