Domaining SEO Sunday: Four Link-Building Tricks You Might Not Know

by Morgan on September 5, 2010

SEOMoz had a great video this Friday about four less well-known link-building techniques. Since we’ve all read a million articles about link-building I thought it was great to see something fresh in this space.

As you all know I’m also a big fan of video and SEOMoz’s Whiteboard Friday’s are a favorite of mine. So watch this video and then grab a beer and stop reading blog posts – it’s Sunday and Monday is a Holiday!

I noticed recently when looking at Youtube that the search results for certain phrases I am trying to rank some of my geo sites for at Google were far lower than the results in Google – OK not really a surprise but it does illustrate that the competition to rank a video is much lower than to rank a website. I already have a video produced via Animoto for several of my geo sites so I opened a Youtube account and was quickly able to upload the videos from my Animoto account. I edited the text descriptions and at least for some less competitive phrases my videos quickly ranked on the first page of Youtube. No sandbox or inbound links to worry about :) It appears the titles and text are key to ranking a video. I’m not sure how much video age and ratings affect the rankings if at all.

Nice share Morgan. SEOMoz really produces great stuff. The testimonial tip is so simple but yet I never thought of it before.

Great tips! I’ve used press releases in the past and it always works well. I can do my own css designing, but I’ve never thought about submitting to gallery sites a a linkback technique. Thanks for some unique suggestions!
