If you could change one thing about my blog, what would it be?

blog

October of this year will mark the ten year anniversary of my blog. If you told me back in 2007 that I would still be blogging ten years later I would have never believed you. Now, writing is a part of my everyday life and I honestly feel weird/guilty if I don’t write a post.

My blog has gone through a ton of changes over time, first moving from the name domainflipper.typepad.com to Domainvestors.tv and finally over to its rightful forever home at MorganLinton.com. I’ve changed WordPress themes, design, logos, etc. quite a bit over the years as well.

One of the more recent changes is switching to a completely different view on mobile devices to focus on readability. My goal is always to put content first and make it as easy as possible for my readers to access my content from any device, big or small.

Of course I still think there’s a lot that could be improved and I thought, who better to ask than you my reader. So now I’ll ask you the question: if you could change one thing about my blog, what would it be?

Maybe it’s happened and I missed it, but I’d like to hear more from your wife.

What the … As soon as my comment posts, the page refreshes; and there’s the beard! Did you seriously just do that while I was writing that you should?

@Jospeh – wow, incredible timing, no that was not intentional, I guess great minds really do think alike!

Excellent feedback everyone, I’m long overdue to move over to HTTPS so I appreciate that, social sharing buttons is a great idea, I used to have them and agree I should put them back up.

@Dave – great suggestion and definitely a topic I enjoy writing about!

I wouldn’t change anything about the blog it looks good to me the way it is.

This is a suggestion for an occasional follow-up series rather than about the blog itself.

I read the recent excellent post “Not all startup founders know that domain marketplaces exist” (Feb 10).

Everyone knows there is a disconnect between sellers and buyers, but that article really clarified the magnitude of it. So at first, I just thought, uh oh, I know this, but it’s a bigger problem than I thought. For example, Morgan cleverly wrote:

“I recently sent an email around asking startup founders to name the domain name marketplaces they know. The top response was “What’s a domain marketplace?” …

… Once I tell founders about domain marketplaces their eyes light up and they usually start browsing like crazy…”

The story was like a “sleeper” and being a brandable domain specialist, I found myself thinking about it days later. Now I feel it’s one of the most important domain posts I’ve read this year.

Marketing brandables is different to EMDs, perusing a portfolio like BrandBucket seems to be very successful. The customers often don’t know what they want until they see it.

So my suggestion is that this theme could be revisited occasionally, since Morgan is so expert in the startup scene of accelerators and incubators etc. And if he would enjoy holding similar discussions with new founders he meets.

How startups and businesses look for their names is a crucial question.

I don’t know how you do it Morgan, but more power to you, congrats!

For me I find it quite boring, specially since no one comments on it, but that’s probably my fault for doing 1 post every few months. I completed 10 years in Nov 2016, but nowhere near as active as you have been.

What I would like to see you do is tech trends, you’ve always had a keen eye for them.

Not a huge change but I would add some social share buttons for each individual post. It make it easier for people to share what they like…
