This why I laugh when people want to buy a domain based on parking revenue. I personally am scaling down on domains and only keeping my best keyword rich domains. I'm done with speculation and tired of domaining.

If it's not producing income it's a liability I forgot about this for a while after doing over $300K in high ticket sales. But that market is gone now and both flipping and parking these days is joke.

YOU MUST DEVELOP TO SURVIVE.

There are many other SEO factors buy a good domain gives you a strong edge. You also have to consider the niche as well.

You bring-up a good point Mark. Definitely best to stay-away from any black-hat SEO. I always focus on having good content on exact-match domains which in the end will perform better than any black-hat techniques!

First paragraph is gold. The rest is black hat non-sense, I am confused why SEOMoz is actually endorsing this practice.

If you do this 301 redirecting of keyword domains to another one of your domains, well.. it won't work. Google will know that you own all of the domains. Or will they? You have to falsify domain registration data and potentially use 2 or more separate web hosts. Not worth it.

I'm just stating this to discourage anyone who might have their gears turning.

Keyword domains do have a huge advantage for search rankings, but avoid using them to boost your other websites.

Morgan,

Keyword rich domains is how I been buying my domain names since 1998. I want the domain to tell exactly what it is, Moviesdownload.com, Forclosedhomes.com, Governementhousing.com, etc.

Not saying it's bad but that is why I think names like
1234.com or XYZR.com off no advantage for SEO so I stayed away from those type of names.

                                                   Thanks, Jm

Morgan,
Thanks for sharing, I could not agree with your school of thought around passive income more! After all, real investments pay YOU. All the best,
