Linton Investments wins Bido auction for JuryLaw(dot)com

Today I won my first auction at Bido. So I’ll start this post with a big “Thank You” to the whole Bido team. Bido is a revolutionary auction service that is absolutely changing the domaining world. It does feel nice buying a domain and knowing without a shadow of a doubt that you will not get scammed. Buying domains online can be a daunting process – Bido makes it quick and easy, and since you’re dealing with Bido the whole time – you know it is someone you can trust.

So why did I buy JuryLaw(dot)com? First – I’ll tell you why I did not buy the name. I did not buy this name because the words “jury” and “law” go together logically as “jury law” – these two words may seem to be related but they are actually almost never used together. Looking on Google for “jury law” you can see that this is not a frequently used set of keywords.

So why buy a domain that seems to make no sense? I bought this domain because of the keywords. For those who have been following my company, then you know that we love coming-up with creative ways to monetize domain names. Over the past 6-8 months we have seen outstanding results from strong keyword domains – but here’s what we’ve learned…both keywords don’t have to be strong. We have been able to successfully optimize for just one keyword and learned that having that keyword in the domain itself is one of the keys to getting good search engine placement.

Over the next month we will be putting a custom mini-site on this domain that will make use of both of these strong keywords, and hopefully become a popular web destination.
