My 2016 Oscar Predictions

I have been a fan of great films since I was a kid. I can still remember “movie night” at home, my parents always wanted me to watch films that taught me something about the world and I think that might have started my lifelong love of film. After a brief stint in the film industry (yes for those who don’t know I was an intern at Dreamworks between grad school and Sonos) I gained a true appreciation for the incredible amount of work that it takes to put together a major motion picture.

The Oscars

I usually watch as many of the Oscar films as I can in the theater but this time around I’ve been too busy working to watch as many of the films as I wanted to, and I’ve had to watch them all through Amazon and Apple TV. That being said, since The Revenant I still have hope for me to see it live.

Here’s a list of the films I’ve seen that are nominated:

– Bridge of Spies
– Spotlight
– Room
– The Marian
– The Big Short
– Mad Max Fury Road
– Ex Machina
– Straight Outta Compton

Our of all the movies I saw I have to say that Spotlight was my overall person favorite, great acting and an incredibly important story to be told. My second favorite would probably be tied with Bridge of Spies and Room, both very strong movies with phenomenal acting.

Of course, what I liked has very little to do with who will win the Oscars, but I do still keep up with the industry, have seen the predictions, and thought I’d make some of my own. At the end I’ll come back and comment to share how many I got right. For now, here are my predictions:
