OnlyDomains + .KIWI Team Up To Auction Over 100 Premium .KIWI Domains

It’s a very good time to live in New Zealand, because if you do, then you’re about to get early access to some of the best .KIWI names before anyone else. While .co.nz has been the standard in New Zealand, new gTLDs like .KIWI present new opportunities for NZ-based businesses.

.kiwi is for people and businesses wanting to associate with New Zealand’s culture. It offers greater choice, branding creativity and the opportunity to differentiate your business from competitors. (Tim Johnson, CEO Dot Kiwi)

Now, thanks to a partnership with OnlyDomains and Trade Me .KIWI is giving New Zealand residents a nice edge. From today until March 17th over 100 premium .KIWI names will go to auction, many with a $1 reserve. Here’s a few of my favorites:

Startup.kiwi
Exporter.kiwi
Developer.kiwi
Tech.kiwi

Rather than auctioning off everything at once the domain names will be auction in batches, here’s the schedule:

This is a bold move and a pretty exciting way to kick-off a new TLD. On March 18th the first wave on names will become available for registration but the people who participate in these auctions will leave with some of the most premium .KIWI real estate. OnlyDomains had this to say about the auction:

As a Kiwi company, OnlyDomains.com is very excited to give other New Zealanders the first bite of the cherry, and expect fierce bidding to reflect Kiwis pride at being able to say “This is who I am.”

I know I have some readers in NZ so if you do participate in this auction and get some good names feel free to come back here and share them!
