I’ve been using YouSendIt.com for quite a while now, if you don’t know what it is, You Send It is a service for sending large files. If you’ve ever had to send really big files over email you know it doesn’t work too well. YouSendIt.com stores the file on their servers and make it easy to send that file as a link.
Recently the company announced that they were changing their name, after much debate and many different names considered they decided to go with Hightail and of course the corresponding Hightail.com.
So why the name change? They want to do a lot more than sending files, and the name YouSendIt was holding them back. After considering many different options they decided Hightail fit them best.
The team at Hightail did a great video about why they decided to change their name and what drew them to hightail. It’s definitely worth watching and I think this is a great move by YouSendIt to break out of their shell and take their business to the next level. For any startups considering a name change, this video is a must-watch:
What do you think? Good move or was there a better name out there that you think would have been a better fit? Comment and let your voice be heard!
