As some of you who have been reading my blog for a long time now know, I’ve been using Afternic since just about my first day in the Domaining world. My first interaction with the company took place through a blog post I wrote back in 2007. They were some of my first readers and also went out of their way to help me feel welcome in the domain industry. Fast-forward to 2011, four years later and I’m still a big fan of Afternic.
The company has continued to innovate over the years rolling-out a first-class parking platform with Smartname and constantly growing the Afternic DLS partner network. Recently they’ve added an “Instant Transfer” feature that takes all the complexity out of transferring a domain name after a sale. So I thought it was about time I did a follow-up from my posts back in 2007 and 2008 and take a look under the hood at Afternic now in 2011:

Morgan –
You mention in the video about “custom landing pages for premium domains”. Do you know of any examples of these custom landing pages?
Thanks

Cool! Nice intro of a little inside of Afternice. I also found afternic better then sedo marketplace.

Morgan in your opinion wich one is better to use. Sedo or Afternic?

Thanks for the kudos, Morgan! This is a great video that hits all the points of what makes Afternic the best choice for parking and selling domains.
@Steve, you can see some examples of custom landing pages for super premium domains here: http://domainersadvantage.afternic.com/super-premium-domains/
If you think that you have names that might qualify please reach out to us here: marketinggroup@afternic.com

@Dan –
When I visit the domains highlighted on the linked page above, each resolves to a standard domain parking/landing page??
For clarity, I assume that mentions of domain “custom landing pages” instead refer to the dedicated posts (on Afternic’s DomainersAdvantage blog) & associated “Market Potential” PDF briefs?
The PDF briefs in particular are well done! I can see how they might prove a useful sales tool for direct-marketing initiatives and (where applicable) at industry-related conferences & exhibitions.

That’s right Steve, although as you saw they are actually Wordpress pages (instead of posts) and each contains it’s own lead capture form. Thanks for the props – they certainly serve us well in our efforts to find buyers for all of our high value names.

I forget, is there a price limit on names at afternic ?
because i have no intention of payinf sedo for an ‘appraisal’ to be able to list for the price i want
Ask For Name November 5, 2011 at 9:39 am
Maybe I’m wrong, but the sad part about mentioned company – is that you can’t sell domains registered with Godaddy
Dan Vescuso November 7, 2011 at 9:39 am
Hi Both,
@Domain Name Newsletter: You can price your names at whatever you feel is appropriate, but names listed with a Buy Now price over $20k will be put into pricing review to be reviewed by our pricing team – we want to make sure that you’re not pricing the name too high and give it the best chance to sell. If you have priced your name(s) in a range we feel is reasonable (which is usually the case) we will approve the listing.
@Ask For Name – That is actually incorrect, you can sell domains registered anywhere on Afternic.
