Two things I would add to his list.
-Make sure to ad back the social bookmarking tools. Without them you are making it harder for your readers to re-post your articles. This will reduce your traffic.
-The right side is longer than your content side when visiting the home page. I would either go back to full posts showing or allow for the last 15-20 articles instead of 10 to keep the left side longer.

1) The main thing is: I like the box shape themes that other sites use, with an alternative colored background. Makes you focus more on the text/ adverts. Could have a dark grey background with black cell borders which would fit in with the page menu, cell space of 2 or 3. Then where the advert column is on the right hand side highlight this area with a light grey.

2) I would have the page menu aligned to the left not the right. I would also increase the font of the page menu to 12 px . (Not too sure about the black background either. Takes too much of your attention away with the current design. 2a) add the search function on the right hand side. (maybe add your twitter and rss icons up there too)

3) I would change your h1 font type to veranda or san-serif.

4) Where the black space bar is under your categories on the front page, I would add space for two companies to advertise, which would also be there when a visitor would click on a post.

5) I would move your rss and twitter icon, either move it down the page and move your adverts up, this would give more respect to your advertisers. Or resize it and add it up to the page menu.

6) Also improve your comments widget in the side menu to add the actual comment to it. Could make two vertical columns and run the blog roll and comments side by side.

I would also make the posts more narrow, I think overall readers prefer it to a wide one. Wide post can make it look longer, narrow posts the reader starts and gets sucked in even if the post is the same length.

9) Larger font as well for the post make it easier to read. 14 pxt

10) In between your blog post and the two columns of adverts you could add a vertical row of your recent video posts that you have done.
