Weekly Video: Are you ready for the .co Revolution?

by Morgan on June 22, 2009

.co is the TLD for Colombia and starting June 23rd 2009 the bidding will begin for who will bring this TLD public. This is most-likely the most anticipated ccTLD ever and it will change the Domaining community forever. With the potential of buying domains with strong type-in traffic as many did in the late 90′s once again new Domainers can get-in early.

.CO sounds like a scammers dream

Don’t understand why this excites you.

.co/.om/.cm will just become namespaces for spammers and phishing attacks. You’ll also lose a ton of traffic to the .com.

Maybe with a strong generic you could earn a few dollars with a parking page, but it’s certainly no good if you want to build a real website with a real brand.

I don’t see anything special about .co

Thanks for your comment Jeff. I hear what you are saying but I think that strong type-in traffic could allow people to register domains that could make thousands of dollars a year as do many generic .com’s. It is definitely too early to know but I’m going to be investing in this space and I’ll share the results with my readers as always.

It definitely will be. It is up to us as investors to use these domains wisely.

Thanks for the comment Mike!
