What is the best marketplace for selling new gTLDs?

There are tons of domain name marketplaces out there with a solid track record selling .COM domain names. The vast majority of my domain investments are .COM and have been for the last 9+ years so this is really all that I know. While I’ve dabbled in new gTLDs like I’ve said many times before, I think most are going to fail and only a select group will live on which is why I’ve mostly stayed out of investing in this space.

That being said, there are people who are more bullish on new gTLDs than me that are buying and doing their best to actively sell these names. Yesterday I got an email from a blog reader who has been investing in new gTLDs that asked me the question I posed above – “what is the best marketplace for selling new gTLDs?”

Since I don’t know the answer to this question I told her that I would poll my readers to see what the community thinks. So now I’ll turn it back to you.

If you’re someone who is actively (or somewhat actively) selling new gTLDs, what marketplace are you seeing the best results with? Comment and let your voice be heard!

    Early on I acquired hundreds of GTLD .com including PremiumGTLDs.com GTLDAFtermarket.com GTLDCon.com and GTLDconference.com to name a few.

    The strategy employed by most GTLD registrars was to position themselves as the anti .com or .com alternative (Hows that working out?). In fact .com as well as any of the non .com extensions are ALL Generic Top Level Domain NamesGTLDs.

    IMO the new strategy ought to be for the newGTLD registries to embrace .com, brand their conference using one of our GTLD .com conference domains and show the .global (GTLD reference intended) marketplace that “Whether .com or .whatever domain names are domain names and that just one may be better than the other for their specific purpose, but that none are good or bad just because they are non .com”

    * crickets *

    Morgan, you’ve asked a great question. The lack of responses (so far) says a lot about this topic. ;+)

    99.9% are completely unsellable, even the one word type names. There is no magic market that will fix it, the ratio of sellers to buyers is 100:1.

    People could try Flippa, but they are likely going to get substantially less than what they paid, or no bids at all.

    The best GTLD Marketplace is at NamePRos: https://www.namepros.com/forums/new-generic-top-level-domain-new-gtld.300/

    Why? Because only domainers are buying GTLDS for the most part. Not many endusers. That link is the best place to buy and sell them that I’ve seen.

    I sold two (for $3900.00) with .London and one .healthcare for $650. All three were health related domains. I think each of these buyers tried to register the domains themselves and found out they were taken. I have them cash-parked at GoDaddy with a link to my website.
