Any person or business can have it's own page and information link working within a few minutes of registering it's domain.
No hassle with web developers, no hosting fees, changes and updates can be made witin seconds

Great example Russell! I completely agree - the ability to market a phone number itself is huge!

0800 600 880

That's the number for Admiral Car Insurance. No, I'm not trying to post a free advertisement for them but I'll give you some food for thought.

Admiral.tel

Just imagine driving to work and you see an Admiral Car Insurance billboard with their freephone number and .tel name. Which one will your remember by the time you're sat at your desk with a cup of coffee?

It's only taken your 15 seconds or so to read this post but who can remember that freephone number I started my comment with? Ok, now how many remembered Admiral.tel? Do I need to say anymore?

:Tel is an advertising and marketers dream. Good bye dark ages telephone nubmers, hello the future of .tel....

The vast majority of .tel domainers creating online directories are totally missing the point of the .tel model.

I've visited countless .tel sites (no names) and noticed that domain owners are slowly inputting all the contact details for relevant companies - phone, fax, email, website etc I'll let them off for .tel being in it's infancy and not many business owners having registered a .tel.

THEY'RE MISSING THE POINT! .tel is designed to ensure that directories will no longer be storing outdated contact information. If this is the case, why start inputting contact data, only for it to be inaccurate as soon as the information changes? Simply put the relevant company's .tel address in your directory!! They do all the hard work of inputting the information for you and keeping it up to date. The only thing you'll ever have to do is add or remove companies from your directory.

STOP WASTING TIME creating the directories of yesterday. Manage your time better by creating the folder structure for your directory and then inputting company .tels when they become available. If the company you want to list hasn't got one, ring them and persuade them to get one in order to be listed in your directory!

Everyday use of .tel by the general public.

How many times have people seen posts on Facebook and the like saying that they’ve lost their phone and they need you to send them your number?

What enough people aren't understanding is that the mobile phone application for iPhone, Blacberry etc will store business and personal .tel addresses which can be updated on a daily basis. If you have a .tel and lose your phone, no big deal. Input your new number into your .tel and your friends / colleagues will be none the wiser as they refresh their phonebooks. Lets be honest, how many people even know more than 2% of the numbers off by heart in their phonebooks?

The .tel initiative proves just how much we were in the dark ages with phonebook software before they arrived....
