101Domain Continues To Innovate, New Site Now Live

I’ve been a fan of 101Domain.com for a long time. I think I first encountered them back at my first TRAFFIC in Las Vegas and I’ve been a fan ever since. If you don’t know much about 101Domain.com they are a well-respected registrar that allows you to register more TLDs than just about anyone else out there. This is great for ccTLD Investors but also fantastic for startups and businesses that are using new TLDs for branding. Just this weekend I saw a great presentation by the founder of Instacanvas that has build an incredible brand with millions of users under the domain name instacanv.as.

While registrars like Go Daddy let your register plenty of TLDs, 101Domain has them beat. Now the folks over at 101 have decided to take their site to the next level and added some pretty slick features. Since I spend a lot of time using my registrar accounts I think I’ve become a pretty good critic of what works and what doesn’t. In this next iteration I think 101Domain really got it right and there are a few things that really stand out to me.

Rather than organizing TLDs by popularity or by which ones they make the most money they list TLDs in alphabetical order. When registrars organize by popularity or TLDs they want to sell it always drives me crazy, the 101Domain registration system is setup just the way I like it. They have also added a new recommendation engine that can help you hone in on the domains that are the most relevant to you.

Another nice addition is a new categorization and navigation system. When you’re dealing with this many TLDs it can be easy to have everything all jumbled together in one big list. This new navigation system is the best I’ve seen yet and after running a few tests with it vs. a few other registrars I definitely think it’s the fastest way to access the TLDs you are looking for.

Last, but certainly not least is a brand new flat-rate hosting plan with a nice new backend to match. As someone that does a lot of hosting I’m impressed with the pricing and it’s definitely easy to have hosting and registration all at the same place, especially when you’re first getting started with Domain Development.

All and all I was happy to see a registrar like this innovating. They are not paying me to write this post and I didn’t get any special blogger pre-release with a suggestion to write about it. I just got the standard email and spent some time playing around with the new site, liked it, and wanted to share it with all of you. Feel free to take it for a spin, if there are some domains you’ve been trying to get in TLDs that you can’t seem to find anywhere, something tells me you’ll probably find them at 101Domain.com.
