3 Reasons Why Your Developed Site Isn’t Making Any Money

I get emails all the time from people that go something like this. “I paid $300 to have a website developed and it’s not making any money, what am I doing wrong?” The problem is there are far too many web developers out there promising people great returns if they just spend a few hundred dollars developing their domains.

What these companies don’t tell people is that putting a website on their domain name is not what’s going to generate the money, it’s simply the front end that allows them to then do the things you need to do in order to make money. Also, sadly in some cases, web developers also promise people high-quality unique content which ends up being actually low-quality spammy content that makes it next-to-impossible to get their site ranked.

If this sounds like you, don’t feel bad, just don’t fall prey to these scammy developers ever again. If any of the three reasons listed below rings true to you then you now know why your website isn’t making any money.

  1. No traffic – this is reason #1. Remember, putting a website on your domain doesn’t mean you will suddenly get traffic. I don’t care if you spent $10,000 on your website, without traffic you won’t be making any money.
  2. Low-quality content – you should read the content on your site and ask yourself, “If I came to this site, would I take it seriously?” If the answer is no then your visitors probably feel the same way and they most likely aren’t going to spend much time on your site.
  3. The wrong ads – just slapping some ads on your site doesn’t mean you will make money. The hardest thing about monetization is figuring out which ads perform the best and optimizing over time.
