58.com – The Craigslist of China, Is Going Public

In case you missed the memo, two and three number .COMs are hotter than ever, just look at the $2.1M sale of 114.com and you can see that buyers really see incredible value in these domains. The country that has embraced numerical domains the most is without a doubt China, and now the Craigslist of China 58.com, is going public.

58 com

According to TechCrunch:

58.com, the online classifieds marketplace often referred to as the “Craigslist of China,” will hold its initial public offering of 11 million American Depository Shares (ADS) at $17 each on the New York Stock Exchange today. The shares will be listed under the ticker “WUBA.” (Source – TechCrunch)

Another Chinese company, 500.com will also be going public this year and something tells me this is only the beginning of what we will look back on as the numerical domain renaissance. Let’s face it, you’re not going to forget or misspell something like 58.com or 500.com and given how important numerology is in Chinese culture I can see more and more companies choosing to rebrand around a numerical .COM.
