Are Cellphones MORE Dangerous Than Cigarettes?

There was a time when the cigarette companies said with confidence that cigarettes weren’t bad for your health. With no scientific proof people believed them – until people started dying and evidence started-coming out showing that cigarettes were indeed hazardous to your health.

However – before the cover was blown you’d sound like a crazy person trying to convince smokers that it was dangerous. In fact you could probably expect to hear the following response, “the companies that make cigarettes say they are perfectly safe…do you really think they would put so many lives at risk?”

Well we all know they did and I’m getting more and more confident that cellphones will replace cigarettes as the silent killer of our generation.

Of course nobody wants to believe that their cellphone could cause brain tumors so it’s easier to use the same excuse, “the companies that make cellphones say they are perfectly safe…do you reall think they would put so many lives at risk?”

Sound familiar?

Well as more and more reports of cellphone-related tumors come-out the evidence is starting to become hard to ignore. GQ recently ran an article in which they interviewed a finance guy in his 30’s who had developed a brain tumor due to cellphone use. He also knew of multiple people within his own company that had died of a brain tumor…coincidence? You be the judge!

Before you comment on this post I highly encourage you to read the following article:

Warning: Your Cell Phone May Be Hazardous to Your Health

If you’re too lazy to read the article – then just read the first four paragraphs. What you will read is what I see as the very beginning of what will become a global problem over the next ten years.

With many smartphones emitting close to the legal limit of radiation (measured by the SAR rating) Apple’s latest phenomenon could become the silent killer of the future.

I’ve been worried about cellphone radiation for some time now and as a result speak almost exclusively on speakerphone – and no I don’t have one of those trendy bluetooth headsets that I see people wearing 24/7!

So now you tell me – does this concern you at all or do you think these HUGE companies that are making money hand-over-fist and are heavily protected by the FCC might actually be creating devices more dangerous than cigarettes? Heck – finance guys in their 30’s who smoke cigarettes almost never get lung cancer until later in life…but brain tumors in your mid-30’s, and multiple people in the same firm? This is more than a coincidence – this is a problem and we’re just seeing the tip of the iceberg.

Now it’s your turn – share your thoughts and let your voice be heard!

Exactly, we should all be concerned about this. Not just with our cell phones but with all electronic devices. As a person who tends to carry his phone on his hip I am now concerned of the kind of radiation I am exposing my body to. Here is an interesting website that I found:

I’ve been meaning to order an airtube headset as well. The small blue tooth wireless headsets also emit radiation directly into your air whether they are active or in standby mode. I noticed that I accumulate more ear wax in my right ear, which is the ear that I use my phone on then my left. This is alarming to me and is another reminder of why I shouldn’t use my phone unless it is important for me to do so.

Next will be monitor screen radiation / irritation / causing of blindness to the eyes for those who sit in front of it 8 hours a day :-p

The cellphones are hazardous and the antennas are as well. At least here real estate prices drop for properties close to the antennas… everyone knows. Nice post, nice analogy, speculation fits your character.

      Excellent point @Avraham!

Yes, it’s pretty scary. The evidence is so overwhelming, but it’s all about the money, so it will take awhile longer before much action is taken… at least in the US. Europe is more on top of things and slowly but surely more people are waking up. It’s sort of like the drug companies and vaccines, they know they are dangerous, they know they cripple or kill some people, so Congress protected them from lawsuits. Hmm, same thing happened with cell phones. Gee, if they are “safe” why bother to do that?

Keep your cell phone off as much as possible, especially if you have an iPhone which acts as a repeater as I understand it and puts out lots of energy. And many people think that a headset is the way to go. It is, but ONLY if you get the airtube type (think of a stethoscope tube) as Jason mentioned. The regular kind actually makes it worse from what I’ve read, it channels the radiation to a fine point in your head.

I got one of those diode things on my phone. Not sure if it works, but it certainly can’t hurt. Maybe one of these days I’ll get an EMF detector and test it.

And by the way, I live in Massachusetts and firmly believe that’s what killed the late Senator Kennedy, a tumor from using his cell phone too much.

@Morgan, its nice of you to bring these issues on a domainers blog.

I have drastically reduced cell-phone usage to less then 5 minutes a day. Use it only when necessary.

The best thing to do is not to worry as these radio waves are all around us and it is only when we get stressed we become extremely vulnerable to these waves from cellphones/cellphone towers.

I’ve known about this for a while now, some other things you should be concerned about are vaccinations and the impending worldwide economic collapse forecasted to occur this year – looks like it is smack bang on target.

But thats enough of the doom – everyone enjoy your life 🙂

I’m not technical person neither familiar with cell phone technologies.
But for sure, cell phones have radiation and somehow will give effect to human body.
For the antennas, yes it is true, people will avoid live near antennas. Some media said the antennas have huge radiation and somekind of electric magnet.

Thanks for sharing this information. There is a lot of research on the health effects of exposure to radiofrequency radiation emitted from cell phones on the Moms for Safe Wireless website – I created this non-profit organization because I read the research and felt it was important raise awareness of the health effects from wireless products such as cell phones, cordless phones, and Wi-Fi. Moms for Safe Wireless recommends using an airtube headset, which creates distance between yourself and your cell phone, thereby reducing your exposure levels by squared amounts. It’s also safer to text or use your speakerphone. Keep your cell phoone out of your pocket and away from your body. Even cell phone manuals tell you to keep the device about .6 inches from the body. Again, thanks for commenting on this important issue.

Thanks for sharing @Christine – sounds like a great resource you’ve built! Glad to hear all the positive responses to this post – it is a very important issue and I’m glad to see so many people taking it seriously!

Fully agree and there are a lot of resources out there on the web with research for all to see
