The time has come, a consumer version of the Oculus Rift will be making it’s way across the nation soon, but that doesn’t mean you’ll be able to use it right away. Yes, with excitement of virtual reality comes the price tag of a high-octane PC that can power it. Luckily PC manufacturers are ahead of the curve on this one and there are a few standouts that I found that do it in style.

Alienware X51 – famous for making high-quality gaming rigs, the Alienware X51 is packs some meaningful power without breaking the bank. While it doesn’t sport an Intel i7 processor (which many hardcore gaming snobs would say is essential) it does have an i5 processor and a sub $1,200 price tag making this one of the most affordable rift-ready PC’s on the market.
Asus G11CD – this computer is a beast, and like all things Asus, it is highly customizable meaning you can make it as powerful as you’d like. While it has a bigger case than the Alienware X51 it does have great front-port access and a slick design that definitely compliments the oculus and your gaming room/desk.
Build your own – yes, my third recommendation is a bit of a cheat since it’s not an actual pre-built computer, but it is a link to all the goodies you’ll need to build your own rig. Note this will likely be your most expensive option since it uses all the best components, but if you really want to dive head first into VR this will power absolutely anything you throw at it. Of course when it comes to doing it in style, you’ll want to pick a cool case, and the one pictured above from Amazon definitely fits the bill.
