I have dabbled in numerical domains, but still admit that I only know enough to be dangerous. It’s by no means my comfort zone but I do know some investors like my buddy Shane who have done quite well with them. While I’m no numerical domain pro, I can spot a great one like this when I see it, which is why I’ve picked this domain of the day.
I know that 8 is a very premium number in numerical domains. This all comes back to numerology and the meanings behind the number 8 which tend to be associated with prosperity and wealth. In Asian cultures 8 is seen as very lucky and I know that having a domain that has an 8 either at the beginning or end is good, but I can’t remember which one it is, Shane? 🙂
There are no 4’s which is a good thing since the number 4 is a homonym for the word “death” in Chinese and can hurt the value of a domain. So the 8’s are good, the fact that it is a 4N (rather than a 5N) is good as well – the shorter the better. One thing that new investors miss about numerical domains is that they are valuable not necessarily to pure-play Domainers, but more to end users around the world who are interested in numerology and there’s not denying that numbers play an important role in Chinese culture, where you’ll find many numerical domain investors. You can learn more about Numbers in Chinese Culture on Wikipedia.
While I’m not bidding on this name I do think that there are some savvy investors who are and who could make this a nice flip. It’s already at $2,000 on NameJet and the fun hasn’t even started yet.
