Domain Of The Day: PCHelp.net

Someone sent me an email yesterday asking why I don’t provide affiliate links to the auctions I talk about, “Don’t you want to make money from these posts?” they said. Nope, I actually have no interest in making affiliate commissions sending people to these auctions. I just want to share my analysis and get other people involved. So whether you buy a name I’m talking about or not, I don’t make a dime. I think this is only fair otherwise you would have to think that my analysis would be a bit biased, which defeats the whole purpose of this daily segment. Now onto the Domain Of The Day:

PCHelp.net

This domain may sound catchy at first but the combination of less than thrilling search volume (only 720 exact-match local) and the fact that it’s a .NET make this a hard one for me to wrap my head around. Yes, you could develop this out and monetize it using one of the zillion affiliate programs for virus scan or PC clean-up software, but you’ll be a small fish in a big pond of people trying to do the exact same thing. That being said, the first page of Google for the search term “PC Help” is full of exact match domains including PCHelp.com, PCHelpLA.com (I think this is here because I’m in LA), pc-help.org. So there might be some hope to get on Google page one, but with only 720 visitors and a good number of competitors that might have a very similar site to yours I don’t see a goldmine here.

As for flip potential I think it would be hard to convince a small business to go with this name, I just think they’d want the .COM if they were really interested in branding around the terms “PC Help” – what do you think?
