Domaining in 2009 and Beyond – Rick Schwartz Shares his thoughts on the future of Domaining

Rick Schwartz wrote an incredible post this morning titled – Why I came up with a 20 Year plan……Progress Report.

In his post Rick says:

“See I believe and have always believed that domains would be an overnight sensation that would be 20 years in the making. The next 20 years I believe are the real money years. I doubt oil was as useful or in demand as much when they started pumping in Texas in the mid 1800’s as it became when the autos hit the road. How amazed would those original oil guys been to see it today?”

Thanks to Rick for pioneering this industry and keeping us all excited and inspired. I am more excited than ever about the future of Domaining. Looking forward to sharing the experiences with all of my readers!

Do you really buy all this?
    The guy got lucky.
Now every single time he writes, all he can do is tell the same rags-to-riches tale of how he “saw it all coming”.
He is like an old war hero who bores everyone to death with the same old story repeated time and time again.
It’s easy to say you have a 20 year plan when you are 14 years into it. Will he promise to STFU when 20 years is up, or will he reveal it was really a 30 year plan and condemn us all to listening to 10 more years of “tales from the 90’s”.

    He is just marketing TRAFFIC,

He makes more money from TRAFFIC Shows than Domains.

    Look through the Smoke Domainers!!!!!!

And the question to you Chris, is who the fuck are you ? and what have you done. Maybe you do not need to wait 20 years to STFU

Interesting thing with Rick is how much he loves telling everyone how much insight he has.

In truth he did register some good (largely porn) domains early. Since that time many others have demonstrated much better “domain thinking” and both positioned themselves better in the domain market and made more money than Rick.

Examples aren’t hard to find, anybody familiar with the market could name many. I doubt anybody could name somebody who says i-told-you-so-i-am-all-knowing as often as Rick though

Rick Schwartz is a pain in the ass.

His imaginary world consists of loads of people who fought him every step of the way, ever since his first pioneered domain investment. How he has since struggled and been ridiculed showing us the new messiah and being victimized for his imaginary ability to predict the future. He is a genuine modern day domaining Jesus persecuted for his domaining beliefs.

Or you can choose to believe the truth, he is a motor mouth door to door salesman that struck lucky with a few premium porn domains in the 90’s and hasn’t be able to shut up since. He reads a few articles and then blogs exactly the way “as he sees it”, verbatim 🙂

Success and ass licking don’t always go hand in hand. In the future try and write something original about domaining and be known for original stuff and don’t factor yourself to be another frager or other domain blogging twat.

Well I do believe he is really on to something…I mean I feel the internet hasn’t truly reached it’s peak as of yet. Just like oil until it reaches fruition and only then will it truly payoff for all investors and early adopters alike.

Thanks a great article and review.
