Domaining SEO Sunday: The Future of Search

Search Engine Land wrote a great article last week about the Future of Search. Since this is a hot topic now especially after Google’s Panda release, I thought I would share this article with all of you. Rather than getting a single viewpoint Search Engine Land asked some of the top experts in search – where will search go from here?

I would definitely say this is a MUST-READ article for anyone that does SEO or cares about their rankings in search engines. Search is changing constantly and it is clear now that dramatic changes can and do happen. Just think, Google’s last update impacted over 10% of all sites listed in Google, that’s a huge move.

Whether you’re a Domainer, online business owner, SEO expert, small or large business, the evolution of search will directly impact your business. You see it all comes down to targeted traffic (remember non-targeted junk traffic is meaningless) and while direct navigation is declining search is growing every day. Is the sky falling? Absolutely not, but things will continue to change and it’s those of us who can keep up with the changes, grow and adapt our businesses that will in the end get the prize we all want.

If you didn’t click on the link above you can read the full article at Search Engine Land.

The thing to do is build as if Google does not exist, and as if you don’t need their traffic. If you build for Google, Google will just tear you down again and again.

If you can build something 100% not reliant on the search engines for traffic then you have finally won the end game.
