Exact Match Domains: Passover & Easter

Hello and Happy Passover and Easter! Today, like most of you, we are enjoying some R&R and getting ready to paint some eggs. Last year we somehow miserably failed at making boiled eggs, I’m not quite sure how we screwed it up but we just couldn’t seem to get it right. This year we’re back at it and it’s going to happen!

I was raised both Jewish and Roman Catholic so I celebrate both Passover and Easter and since I know that I have readers that celebrate both I wanted to take the time to send my best wishes to all of you and your families. Of course you guys came here to read about domains and I thought I’d do a little piece about what role domains play in the first page results for both of these holidays.

When it comes to Easter exact-match domains are nowhere to be found when you search for “Easter” but look for “Easter 2013” and you’ll see that HappyEaster2013.com made it onto the coveted first page of Google.

Yes, it is a pretty ugly-looking made-for-AdSense site but the name was only registered on February 22nd of this year so is less than 2 months old. At LeadsCon I talked to plenty of people who had verified great and noticeable results using exact-match domains. That being said, they knew that Google was scrutinizing exact-match domains with low-quality content and I’m honestly amazed that HappyEaster2013.com made it onto the first page of Google so quickly.

When it comes to passover another exact-match domain made it onto the first page of Google, Passover2013.net.

Definitely a much nicer looking site and another relatively new registration as the name was originally registered at the end of January. It looks like they have been working it on their Facebook page as they have over 4,400 likes and counting.

I personally don’t think sites like these have that much revenue potential and are probably a lot more trouble than they’re worth. Since the year is in the domain name they also become irrelevant very fast. However it does show that ranking for terms like this with an exact-match domain is still very possible, and in a very short amount of time. Like I said though I don’t recommend any of you jump out and do this, I certainly wouldn’t.

Thanks for reading and I hope you all enjoy the holidays!
