Exact-Match Domains Win For Memorial Day Sales

Memorial Day

Hello and Happy Memorial Day. Today is an incredibly important day, it is the day when we honor the brave women and men who have given their lives to protect our country and allow for the freedoms we all enjoy today. Every single member of our armed forces makes an incredible sacrifice and commitment and I am so thankful to all of those currently serving, those who have served, and morne those who have lost their lives defending our country.

If you, a family member, a friend, or anyone you know is, has, or will be serving in the military I am proud to know you and have you as a visitor on my blog. Today is about you and about all the other amazing people who have given their lives to protect ours, for that we should all be forever grateful.

As with most holidays I’m always interested to see who is ranking in the top spots on Google for the keywords that are getting massive traffic. Memorial Day means a day off of work for most people in the US and that means that sales are running like crazy, most until either midnight tonight or tomorrow.

One of the top search terms on Google today is, not surprisingly, Memorial Day Sales, and here’s the sites in the top three spots:

Memorial Day Sales

As you can see, exact-match domains are taking the #1 and #2 spot, bam! The site getting the most traffic is a .NET domain name, memorialdaysales.net which according to SEOMoz.org’s Open Site Explorer only have 7 root domains linking in and less than 500 total links (but the room domains are what really matter).

Memorial Day Sales Links

In the #2 spot is www.memorialdaysales2013.com which was originally registered in 2011 and has not a single backlink. That’s right, no backlinks and it’s in the #2 spot for this search term.

Exact Match Domains

As I’ve said many times before, exact-match domains full of spammy content and low-quality inbound links are dead, really dead. However, exact-match domains with real content and visitors that come to the site, stay, and interact are alive and well.
