Fashion Friday – My New Favorite Watches Under $1,000

Fashion Friday

I’ll be the first to admit, I have an addiction, and it’s only getting worse, I love watches. There, I said it, and something tells me I’m not alone. As a guy there aren’t too many accessories we can wear. Women really get to have all the fun when it comes to accessories so for guys it all comes to watches, ties, and maybe bracelets if you’re into that however I’m not really much of a bracelet kind of guy.

While we all can easily tell time using our smartphones those tend to be relegated to the pocket unless you’re super-geeky and decide to wear it on your belt. I’m definitely a geek, but just not that geeky.

Watches are fun because you can really use them to make a fashion statement and like dramatically range in value based on how much of a fashion statement you want to make. That being said, you don’t have to spend thousands of dollars to own a well-built, high-quality watch. This week I discovered a new watch-maker that I really like called Uniform Wares. They make watches like the one below that start at under $200:

Uniform Wares 100 Series

Of course in the world of watches you typically don’t start seeing really impressive watches until you get over $1,000. I have to say that some of the sub-$1,000 watches that Uniform Wares has are some of the most awesome watches I’ve seen. Below are a couple of my favorites, all priced under a thousand bucks.

Uniform Wares 300 Series

Uniform Wares 300 Series ($937)

Uniform Wares 200 Series

Uniform Wares 200 Series ($363)

If you haven’t heard of Uniform Wares it’s because the company is relatively new having started in 2009 by two designers. They both were committed to quality and design ascetic but were also dedicated to simplicity, function, and making high-quality watches accessible. On their site they say:

The precision that goes into designing and developing each Uniform Wares wristwatch collection is a slow, exacting process that results in each series being produced in small quantities with each subsequent series seeing the introduction of subtly alternative details.

Yes, I was drooling after reading this as you might be now. Sure, I still absolutely love Patek Philippe (particularly the Calatrava 5118P) but I think Uniform Wares is my new favorite in the sub-$1,000 price range.
