Get Ready For Non-gTLD Related Posts From MorganLinton.com

Hello everyone and welcome to the chaos that has become of the Domaining Blog space. Rick Schwartz is keeping track of the number of blog posts about the new gTLDs and right now DNW is in the lead followed by TheDomains. While I think there are now way too many posts about the new gTLDs, making turning Domaining.com into a crystal ball of predictions and repeated news stories, I will say that some of the key players, DNW and TheDomains being two of them, are doing an awesome job of covering the Big Reveal.

New gTLDs are big news and we all know they are going to change the Domaining space forever. I created an infographic about new gTLDs this morning showing how we’ve actually had a number of big reveals making today a bit less exciting. Still, hats off to all the bloggers that are spending today writing article after article and covering what is without a doubt one of the biggest stories our industry has ever seen.

From this point on, outside of yesterday and today I’m going to stay pretty far away from new gTLDs. There is more than enough great coverage and for many of us, business moves forward and since the new gTLDs won’t even hit the market for another 1-2 years, we’ve got some time. So I am going to use this as an opportunity to really go deep into some interesting case studies focused on Domain Development and the process of turning Domain Names into brands.

Today I’ll have a WordPress Wednesday article looking at my experience with WPEngine and ZippyKid and revealing why I choose ZippyKid in the end. Tomorrow I will be starting a case study on one of our brands and sharing how we got to where we are now, and what we’re doing to take the brand to the next level. I’ll be sharing some great successes, and some disappointing failures. The idea here is that while all the new gTLD buzz is going on, I’ll be focused on sharing case studies of what you can do to make money in your business today. No speculation, no talking about if .whatever will be a hit in 2013, let’s talk about today and what you can do to make money with your portfolio now.

Stay-tuned, there’s a lot more to come!
