Go Daddy has just updated their Homepage which means millions of people will be seeing the new design over the next few days. The new homepage now features the words “Get A Website” at the top with a quick description and big green button that says “Start Now”. Below is the “Get A Domain” section which is still important, but no longer the focus as websites have taken a clear front-and-center spot on the world’s largest Domain Registrar’s Homepage.
Of course this doesn’t mean that Go Daddy is moving away from Domain Names, instead it shows how much value they see in becoming the go-to place for website creation as well. Hosting is a major business and Go Daddy has been making a push to get more and more hosting clients onboard. Just this month Andrew moved DNW over to Go Daddy, and wrote a great post about why he made the move and with this new homepage something tells me Go Daddy will be getting many more hosting customers very soon.
We are definitely living in a time where consumers are bombarded by options. Should you build with WordPress? Hire a web design company? Design it yourself? There’s no right answer but everyone is fighting for a piece of the pie, because it just so happens to be one of the biggest, fastest growing pies on the planet. Now I’m not saying you should go use Go Daddy’s website builder and throw up a site, but I do think we should all look at this as a great sign of where the market is going.
