Heading to Boulder for Techstars FouderCon

Tomorrow morning we’ll be flying to Boulder for an annual conference run by Techstars called FounderCon. Founders from all over the world will be converging on Boulder along with some VC’s, Angel Investors, and some major companies like Google and Target that will be meeting with companies during the conference.

I will be giving a talk on Tuesday about how to weigh the pro’s and con’s of moving your company to a different city, based on our experience moving from LA to Austin last year.

I am really looking forward to catching-up with all of the other Techstars founders I already know, and many of those that I haven’t had a chance to meet yet. Brewbot, one of the startups that went through Techstars Austin with us last year is shipping two of their latest beer brewing robots to the conference, here’s a picture of them loading the truck preparing for the voyage:

When you go through a Techstars program you tend to get really close to all of the companies in your class and we all really bonded and became like a big startup family. So events like these actually feel a bit like a family reunion in some ways. Here’s a photo of us from last summer playing a game called Werewolf that we played every Wednesday:

What I really appreciate about Techstars is the network of founders, advisors, and investors. Since it’s harder to get into Techstars than to get into Harvard it’s a small group of companies but we’ve all been through an incredibly intense and rewarding experience, and I really enjoy catching-up with other founders and sharing our experiences.

Right now we’re in California getting ready to head to a wedding so I have to run but I’ll try to put together some updates from FounderCon if I get a break in the action. I hope you’re all having a great weekend!
