Help pick a new logo for MorganLinton.com

Hello and happy Sunday! I am currently running a design contest on 99Designs for a new logo for MorganLinton.com. It’s a new year and I thought it was time for a little refresh for my logo. I’ve had 50+ designs submitted so far and the five concepts listed below are my current favorites. Since my blog is written for you, my reader, I thought I’d include you in the process – so let me know which design you like the most.

(Note – you will see that some designs have multiple variations, feel free to let me know which variation you like the most as well)

    Nice designs. 🙂

Design concept #1 – 1 gets my vote!
Design concept #2 – 3 would be my 2nd choice.

If I had to number 1, otherwise probably none of them. I would go with your personal picture since the website is a personal name.

I have a slight preference for #1 and #5 but I would add I would either want to leave off the .COM (implied) or have .Com at the end of Morgan Linton. I don’t like seeing .COM below the name.

I like #1 best (with the .com part). I like #3 and #4 the least.

Concept #1 – second one. (Without .com looks clean, minimal and professional . 3d logo looks excellent and powerful.)

None of the above, sorry, none of these look the part.

#3 is best of the lot, if it’s a choice only between these.

#1 with the .Com, you are a .Com not an industrial business. #1 logo also makes the most sense with the dual color logo and is the most professional and powerful one.

I loved the #1 first one in the #1 first concept. Nice.

Some yellow on this site (not necessarily the logo) could really work as a complimentary color with the blue. The red (on the buydomains ads) is opposing the blue on the color wheel. That might be the plan, I’m not sure.
(Sorry I’m a little obsessed with color at the moment!)

I’d have them work on #1 a little bit more. It’s pretty darn close.
Maybe a variation in the cube of one color instead of 2 or the cube the lighter blue and the text the darker blue. I’m not crazy about 2 colors on the type. I think it’s unnecessary given your camel-casing already and it’s a proper name.
I prefer it without the .com but I think you can use it both ways and it’ll work out fine.

    Concept 5 for me.

It’s clean, but impactful. I can see it making the same impact on other promo items such as business cards.

This is right up my ally Morgan! I’m a graphic designer by trade! Without knowing what look and feel you were going for, I’ll give you my honest opinion on all of the designs. First and foremost, which ever one you decide on, I would lose the .com portion of the logo. You don’t need your logo to actually say .com. Yes your blog is about domaining, and .com is king, but all of your readers know your domain is a .com and it doesn’t really add anything. Your logo will be much cleaner and simpler without it! I bet that you’ll find that when you look at the options now you’ll like the ones without it more. Concept 1 has a bank or financial institution type of feel. Not necessarily a bad thing, but at first glance I was like not quite there. Concept 2 doesn’t have the best font choices and the icon is better…I see the M, but a also see a line chart where unfortunately the line goes downward at the end. I’m not fond of the “t” in concept 5 and the icon looks like a skewed version of the Volkswagon logo. So I think car company. Now we’re left with concept 3 and 4. Between the two I like the colour choice and icon of number 3 the most. The rounded edges on the M in the icon are a nice touch. If I can offer a suggestion, I’d ask the designer to remove that thin blue line on the right side of the icon. You don’t need it. It’s so thin it might as well not be there. You’ll still see the M without it. And I would move the icon and your name closer together. I don’t even mind the .com in this option. It’s much smaller and because it’s vertical it’s more subtle. But you’ll still find it’s much cleaner without it. So design concept 3 is the winner for me out of this batch. I’d be curious to see the other designs that you decided not to show, but I realize that’s not feasible. If you’re not in any hurry I’d suggest exploring a little further. It’s still not quite there yet. Have you tried exploring all uppercase letters? Anyway, those are my two cents. Take it or leave it. No worries. I hope I was able to give some helpful feedback. Cheers and good luck with the logo!
