Here’s what I invested, and here’s what my crypto portfolio is worth at the end of 2017

cryptocurrency-in-2017

I just posted this on Twitter so thought I might as well share with all of you as well. In the future I’ll likely do quarterly reviews but since I just started deploying capital in mid-July of this year I’m sticking to an EOY review for 2017. If you’re interested in understanding how I currently invest into cryptos make sure to read this post.

As I’ve said before, I’m in this for the long haul so I see 5.5 months as only a sliver of time, I’m going to really start caring about these numbers in 2022, for now it’s just fun to watch.

Feel free to share your year in crypto or tell me how stupid cryptocurrencies are and how they’re all ponzi schemes and how people like me are going to lose all their money. Either way, this is officially my last post of 2017 and I want to hear from you. Comment and let your voice be heard and thanks for reading MorganLinton.com this year, we officially beat out 2016 when it comes to unique reads, woot!

You can’t count profit until you cash out in my opinion.

@JZ – 100% true, what I meant was profit if I were to sell today. Since I’m in crypto for a 5+ year investment timeline I’m just monitoring how much I put in and how much the portfolio is worth, liquid, now.

Who wants to do a side bet of $10k thru escrow.com
I bet his portfolio of crypto will be worth $500k+ if he doesn’t sell before 2022.

I don’t do bets…but lets check back in 4 years and see. There is no way it will be worth that much. If it is I will be extremely surprised. I assume you are saying his portfolio as it stands today.

    Hello Morgan,
We are seeing the Devastating results of this current Crypto Scam, ruining many supporters reputations and Bank Accounts. Don’t reference Warren Buffett if you can’t even spell his last name correctly.

I think that’s a low ROI considering the way cypto shot up in 2017.
Whether you are one of the HODLers or do intraday or short term as well is something I am not aware of. But since you say, “invest” I believe put in the money and forget kind of.

Still I believe there is more to be made this January if you trade properly.
I am a trader by profession and believe this is going to be a January like never before.

there was the internet boom and then there is this. It is once in a lifetime phenomenon and is important that we be a part of it, only with what we can afford losing.

The risk reward ratio in crypto is huge and even if Jeff Schneider is right by any chance, the rolling of money by booking partial profits is a good strategy.

Morgan, Happy Year 2018 in your investments in Cryptocurrency, although the news of the last day of the year 2017 have very high losses.

In the long term these coins will have much more value than three, six, nine months

Mine did about 2.5x, just crossed $100k. Bitcoin went up 7x in the past 5.5 months, so we are not even close to market average, which is rather embarrassing 🙂
