I’m thinking of writing a weekly article about my passion for backpacking, yay or nay?

So for those who know me well, you know that one of my biggest passions in life is backpacking. Now there are two kinds of backpacking so let me be clear which kind I’m talking about. One form of backpacking is heading to a place like Europe with a backpack and adventuring for a month or longer. I’ve never done that but I’m sure it’s fun. That being said, I’m talking about the second kind of backpacking where you head into the woods and survive out in the great outdoors usually for a period of 2-5 days.

For the last twenty five years I’ve been backpacking every chance I can get, and twenty four years ago I was in the backpacking club at my High School which I think did a lot to really catalyze my love for backpacking.

Now, I do an annual snow backpacking trip, often in Yosemite, with some of my good friends here in the Bay Area. One of my favorite snow backpacking trips in Yosemite is Dewey Point, and if you click on that link you can see a little article I put together about a trip we did a couple of years ago. Oh and yes, as a domain investor I couldn’t help but snag SnowBackpacking.com

A few weeks ago I went backpacking in the Tahoe National Forest, most of the time along the PCT (Pacific Crest Trail) and I’m editing my first full length backpacking video from that trip. Safe to say this could be either insanely boring or somewhat interesting, but as my first time trying to piece together an entire video, it’s probably going to be a bit rough.

For those wondering, the backpacking adventure I went on a few weeks ago was out to Paradise Lake which is seven mile hike from Truckee, CA in North Lake Tahoe. The lake was spectacular, here’s the view from my campsite:

If you’re interested in learning more about backpacking I can tell you, Reddit is the place to go, there are two awesome Subreddits that absolutely rock, they are:

/r/wildernessbackpacking – this is the go-to Subreddit for all things backpacking (in the wilderness that is)

/r/ultralight – as I’ve gotten older (it happens to the best of us), I’ve been learning more about how to backpack lighter and ease the burden on my body

I’m a total backpacking gear geek and also love learning about new trails and techniques and thought, since this is a personal blog, I might as well branch out and share more about one of my biggest personal passions. So let me know if you’d be interested in hearing more or if you’d like me to just stay laser focused on domain investing, NFTs, crypto, and the other digital investing topics I tend to focus on. If people aren’t into it, that’s okay – I can always take Sunday’s off, but if you’re interested, let me know and I might be game to share more about one of my true passions in life!

Yay. I like the idea of promoting exercise as it can lead to a healthy mindset on dealing with stressors. Just include lots of pictures. I’m not too sure that it’ll be the most anticipated series out there, but if you can get one person up and moving, I think you’ve done a great job.

    I would say no…

Although your readers might find the odd article interesting in the end I think it will take away from your blog. I come expecting to read about domains and if I come and see articles about backpacking instead your blog will probably come off my reading list.

I don’t mean to rain on anybody’s parade but that is factual for me. When I sit down and start going through my daily domain reading list I expect to find just that. Sites that water it down come off my list. There is a lot of domaining information out there and the sites I visit (when I am in business mode) have to cover the topics of interest.

My suggestion would be to start another blog and cross link them, make your hobby blog a simple google blogger page (you can see an example at blog.dn.ca) which is one I am toying with. It takes seconds to toss up via blogger and looks pretty decent. Then just cross link them and you are done.

Thanks for sharing but as you probably know, this is not a blog about domains, it’s my personal blog. I talk about a range of topics like NFTs, crypto, venture capital, startups, etc.

If you’re looking for a blog that writes about domains every day, I agree, this probably isn’t going to make the cut for your list.

That being said, I appreciate your feedback and as you know there are lots of great domain blogs out there so no shortage of daily reads for you!

You know what Morgan, I never noticed that, because those are all subjects that I am very much interested in so it was always something that made my reading list. Backpacking though is pretty far off my reading list and looking at you post again I can see you said once weekly so I guess that won’t interfere too much with the main topics.

Good luck, I will try to read the occasional backpacking article but I cannot promise it will keep my attention long ๐Ÿ™‚

Your blog is better than that D-sad one ….and best of all, many comments compare to D-sad.

This always came across as Morgan’s blog, not a domain blog. I would say Yes.
