Linton Investments Launches Kayaking.org!

kayaking_screenshot2It’s official folks – I have just launched my latest project – Kayaking.org! This is only the beginning of what I will be turning-into the #1 Kayaking resource online. This project has been in the works for a long time and this weekend I finally turned that planning into a reality.

Over the next month I will be doing special segments on my blog describing how I approach development projects like these. I’ve had a lot of requests to show my development process step-by-step on the blog and decided the time has come to do it! Since I receive a lot of questions about my methodology for developing domains I thought this would be a great chance to show a domain being developed so you can see it grow and progress!

That being said please understand that the site is only about 10% finished. I started working on this at around 9AM today and it is now 5:30PM, and yes – I’ve taken a few breaks. Over the next few weeks you’ll see the site continue to grow as I add more features. I decided to go with WordPress for this one as I want an easy way to allow many people to contribute to the site. My goal here is to create a dynamic and interactive site that constantly gets fresh content from its visitors.

So here’s a preview of what I’ll be covering in this month-long segment on Developing your Domain Investments:

– Rapid site development with WordPress

– Introduction to logo design

– The power of stock photography

– Reaching-out to other websites

– Connecting with advertisers

– Be your own PR machine

– The importance of SEO optimized content

– Creating interactive sites

– Choosing the right monetization options

So buckle your seat belts because it is going to be an exciting month here at Domainvestors.tv! As always feel free to ask me questions along the way – I hope to show everyone how you can take time, energy, and focus and turn an undeveloped domain into a major online destination!

Great domain Morgan! Very strong keyword and I love the .org TLD – It’s an undisputed trust brand.

By the way I’ve been looking to buy a used Kayak here in Austin via craigslist. What if you could plug the craigslist results into kayaking.org? You should be able to syndicate the RSS results for “kayaking” from craigslist in the ‘boats for sale’ section per city. Visitors could select their city and view the results.

Anyway, just an idea to help provide visitors with more useful content. To bad craigslist doesn’t have an aff prog.

Nice, Morgan. I’ve always liked .org domains and this site would be a great match.

    Morgan,

Let me be the first to say thanks for doing this.

I’ve never built a site yet.

If I think I can follow and apply what you show I may take
a domain and see if I can finally get a site going.

    I can’t wait.

    Jamie,

Craigslist doesn’t charge anything for classified ads.

The only fee charged is for job postings (employers).

Even Real Estate listings are free but that may change
    in the future.

@McDermott – I realize that. I sell a lot of stuff using craigslist and have also posted job listings.

Not all aspects of one’s development strategy need be monetized. Sometimes a helpful service such as providing a ‘craigslist like’ listing feature will make the site much ‘stickier’ and provide a different kind of income -> RETURNING TRAFFIC.
