As an eSports and gaming fan, Discord has become a part of my daily life. If you don’t know what Discord is, think of it as Slack for gamers – an easy way to chat with other gamers, track what they’re playing and have a more dynamic experience than you’ll find on a forum.

When I first heard about Discord it didn’t make any sense to me. Why not just use Slack or Skype? Didn’t the world already have enough messaging services, what made this different? Well, fast-forward to today and I don’t quite know how we all survived without Discord, it’s a game-changer and the startups meteoric growth is really shows what an incredible solution is it.

“If it wasn’t already evident that Discord is becoming a staple of playing (and watching) games, it is now. The chat platform is marking its third birthday this week with word that its user base has nearly tripled in the space of a year, jumping from 45 million in May 2017 to 135 million today. About 19 million people use it every day, and as many as 8.2 million people have used it at the same time.” (Source – Engadget)

One thing that I’ve found interesting over the last few months is that I’m finding myself using Discord just to chat with other friends, like I would in Facebook Messenger or Telegram. I’m now on Discord daily and actually find it’s a really great platform for communication, which got me thinking, why not create a Discord server for my blog?

So I did, and it is now available, just click here to sign-up –> https://discord.gg/Hpw5Fx

When you join you’ll see four channels:

  • #general – I think this will be the most activate channel, a place to say hello and talk about anything
  • #domain-investing – a channel dedicated to conversations specifically about domain investing
  • #startups – a channel dedicated to conversations about startups, fundraising, venture capital, etc.
  • #blog-comments – a channel for readers to use who want to comment on my blog posts

I’m interesting in seeing if anyone ends up using the #blog-comments channel as I think this could be a really interesting way to make my blog more interactive. If you haven’t tried Discord yet, this is also a great excuse to give it a shot and try the chat platform that now has over 19 million people using it actively every single day.

So come join the conversation and enjoy a more interactive experience. While I can’t promise I’ll be online ready to chat every time you are, there are plenty of times I will be and I look forward to talking with my readers and joining in on the conversation. See you there!
