New GoDaddy Feature – Twitter Integration

GoDaddy recently added a new feature that allows domain owners to check if their domain name is available as a Twitter username directly through GoDaddy. As far as I know this is the first domain registrar/hosting provider to offer a service like this. While it is easy enough to simply go to www.Twitter.com/your_domain_name to check if it exists – this new feature will definitely help bring more domain owners into the Twitter universe. Many business-owners are yet to fully understand or embrace Twitter and this move by GoDaddy to connect your domain name with a Twitter username is definitely a step in the right direction.

I would imagine that GoDaddy is going to be a trend-setter here as more registrars will begin offering this as an option. It is an easy service to add and for those “in the know” this feature will not be used since it is just as easy to go to www.Twitter.com/your_domain_name. What this will do is continue to promote the idea that domain-owners should own the Twitter name that corresponds to their domain as it can be an incredible promotional tool.

I commend GoDaddy here for continuing to innovate and provide new service-offerings to their customers. This is one of the BIG differences between GoDaddy and 1&1 which has offered the same terrible control panel to their customers for the past ten years. 1&1 service is so bad that when you talk to tech support they even admit that their domain control is way behind and that they serve more as a complaint line than technical support. The difference is GoDaddy cares about their customers and it has been clear over the years that 1&1 does not. I know this rant was unrelated but I just like to make sure my readers stay as far-away from 1&1 as possible to avoid the nightmare!

Have a great 4th everyone and be safe!
