Night Writing

Night Writing

Over the years I’ve found myself going through different phases when it comes to writing. When I first started writing this blog I did everything in real time. At that point I didn’t know about scheduled posts and in fact I’m not sure if it was even possible to schedule posts back then. Then as time went on I got more organized and started writing at night, scheduling my posts for the following day.

As life has become more busy I’ve found it harder to plan too far ahead with my blog posts and I’ve found myself oscillating between writing my posts in realtime and writing them at night.

This weekend I was looking over my analytics and noticed that the posts I write and night and schedule for the following day tend to get more reads and noticeably longer “Time on Site” numbers which means people are reading them through to the end, or at least pretty darn close to the end since my posts can sometimes be incredibly long.

What I realized is that I think the quality of my posts is actually better when I write them at night. Even if I feel tired (which is happening earlier and earlier as I get older) I think there’s something about the knowledge that I have no set deadline or stopping point, I can just write. As I write this post now it’s 11:35PM on Wednesday night but as you probably noticed you’re reading this at 1:23PM in the afternoon.

All this being said I don’t see this post as one of my crowning achievements, in fact you’re probably getting bored reading this by now so I’ll cut to the chase. For any bloggers, writers or just good old night owl’s reading this post I’d be interested to hear your opinion. Do you find that you get your best work done at night or in the morning, and why?

Comment and let your voice be heard!

I’ve always felt “inspired” to write…it’s hard to describe but I tend to do my best writing or even journal writing at night before bed. I think it has to do with finishing the day off right and summing up my day. I sometimes write in the morning but that is more like a jotti things down in shorthand…

I haven’t blogged but I used be a total night owl. I would start work at 2pm and finish at some time in the early hours!

Thankfully this has stopped, but only since the start of this year. Best thing I ever did. It’s the right thing for me for now.

In the old days, waking up so late, I would inhale and go “OMG it’s like 2pm and I’ve done zero work, give me a coffee and take me to the computer!!” where because I felt I was behind I worked like a possessed madman till I could do no more, and collapse in front of the TV.

Ah, the good old days ;0)

Interesting post Morgan. But it doesn’t matter so much when you write it, you need to strategically post at the right time for the most views. Whenever I feel like writing, I just start and see where it takes me. Right now I have over 100 top-of-the-line premium Domaining related wicked articles. I am planning to drip feed them soon on my site. I don’t know what happened, but Domaining is on fire in 2013!!!

Sorry, one thing I forgot to mention. Its too bad that there isn’t an established leader in the Voice to Email dictation services. I have a 1 hour commute time, each way, here in Toronto….it would be awesome if there was a service that I could call that would transfer voice to email/text; I could get alot more articles done!

Nighttime is definitely my best time for writing, and has been since my long past college days! I’m not much of a writer, it’s difficult for me. I think I do my best writing (or at least, most fluent) at night because I’m too tired to sit there and obsess over every word like I do when I write during the day.

For my having inspiration of write in all moment, When come to me the notion of any choose space of time in a day as today and tomorrow. Early for me because due to the time change with you (Some days being tired say enough, close and go to sleep) and With Others I have to mold to a specific schedule.
Conclusion at the end of the day in the evening and early morning for me is the best time to with you after you take notes and review them.
Each of us have your best moment the important thing is that you can write, this means that one be inspired.
It is now 11:43 pm here yesterday that mean go to sleep soon.
