Nobody Hates Your Blog? Then You Must Be Doing Something Wrong.

Today I was sad to see a post by a new blog that I think has been a very welcome addition to the community, Toronto Domainer. He recently had his first major negative experience with a reader and announced that he was going to close down his blog. Well the comments came pouring in telling him to stick with it and ignore the negativity. What I have to tell him is, if this didn’t happen sooner or later, it would actually be a bad sign.

So I decided to put-together this video talking about why it’s actually a good thing to have one, two, maybe even ten people hating your blog because at the end of the day it’s the thousands of people who love your blog that matter. Enjoy the video and if you don’t like it, let the whole world know how much you hate the video, I’d appreciate it 🙂

Not only do you have a non-working razor, but you’ve got your shirt inside out too…..is  your washer not working either?! 🙂

Nice comments in the video. Completely agree.

The razor works fine I’m working from home in LA all week so there’s no reason to use it 🙂

The shirt is actually this overly-styled shirt that I don’t often wear outside, since it looks like I’m wearing an inside-out shirt.

I guess both combined didn’t work in my favor!

    GREAT video blog message!

Your message struck a nerve (in a good way) because it took me way tooooooo long to learn ‘believe in yourself’ . As someone who is an out of the box thinker in business I often get a off handed comment like “are you nuts” and I have learned to simply respond:
“no one normal ever changed the world”

I enjoy your blog and have learned valuable information from you – THANKS

Sigh. I wish more people saw things as optimistically as you. I know quite a few brilliant writers who won’t put anything up online because they’re scared of the trolls torturing their fragile little egos.

Remember Michael Arrington? There is no man more hated in technology. And yet he carried on..building the world’s most important tech property in the process.

Same goes for Jason Calcanis, Pete Cashmore, Arianna Huffington and heck, even our own Rick Schwartz.

If you aren’t causing people to torch down your blog in an angry inferno of hate, you are essentially being un-opinionated. That’s the worst thing you can be on the blogosphere.

Great comment @DNFBlog and so true! Blog are all about opinions and if you don’t express them you do miss so much of what makes blogging so important!

Much appreciated, and let’s hope Toronto Domainer sticks with it!

@Richard it does look like he took down the site. It’s too bad but I don’t know enough details to really know what happened here.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone shut a site down so quickly so part of me is starting to wonder if something funky was indeed going on. I would be more trusting if the site stayed-up and kept moving forward…actually makes me a bit suspicious to see it come down so quickly.

@Morgan : I gotta agree with you. You don’t just shut down something that has been around for a while over a single complaint.
