One-word .IO’s are starting to cross the $5,000+ mark, at wholesale

I was interested to see the latest sales results from Park.io, there were two .IO names that recently sold that crossed the $5,000 mark. The names were Strategy.io which sold for $6,350 and Seeker.io for $6,000.

What I think makes this particularly interesting is that Park.io is a site that catches expired domains and the most prominent buyer of expired domains is well, not surprisingly, Domainers that are buying at what they consider to be wholesale.

With names selling over the $5,000 you know that some investors out there are likely expecting to get $15,000+ for the names. Now I know what you’re going to say…Morgan that’s just two domains out of a huge list of names that sold for under $5,000, heck a ton sold for under $500. That’s true but this isn’t a new trend, it seems to be happening just about every week.

Two weeks ago Garage.io sold for $7,2650, the week before that Ace.io sold for $10,0000. It’s clear that there are Domainers out there who see one-word .IO’s as having solid five-figure resale values. You might not, and I’ll be honest…I’m a little skeptical, but it is interesting and definitely is something I’m going to be keeping an eye on.

While I have a lot more .COM investments than anything else, .IO is the TLD that I have invested the most in next to .COM. I’m a big fan of .IO but I usually think of the resale value to fall more in the $2,500 to $7,500 range…but maybe I was wrong and I’m selling for too cheap.

What do you think? I want to hear from you, comment and let your voice be heard!
