Prompt.ly Raises $1.5M Seed Round To Make Life A Whole Lot Easier For Independent Service Providers

Domain hacks have been in the news a lot lately as startups are definitely a fan of short, memorable, one word brand names. One of the top TLDs for domain hacks has been .ly thanks in no small part to Bit.ly who really kicked-off the domain hack trend years ago. Yesterday Prompt.ly, a company focused on making it easier for independent service providers to track scheduling and payments announced a $1.5M raise with some pretty heavy-hitters on the roster.

As I’ve said many times before while I do like the simplicity of domain hacks I do think they are pretty darn confusing for someone to remember. That being said, I do think that for a app-maker the domain name matters whole lot less so I don’t think prompt.ly will have many issues here.

The company is founded by Richard Titus, an all-star in the startup world who has assembled an absolutely incredible team and the right strategic investors to help them hit it out of the park. At the end of the day the success of a startup has to do with the team behind it and given the track-record that Richard has I think this is going to be another great success story.

If this was a web-based product I might say they should go for Promptly.com but given that it’s an app I think they’re fine right where they are. Also it doesn’t hurt that Promptly.com is owned by Life Alert so if anyone gets confused they’ll know they’re on the wrong site the second they visit the .COM.

Congrats to Richard and team, I look forward to following the adventure ahead!
