Rick wrote a post about domain appraisals…and most people missed the point completely

omg

Something pretty funny happened today, Rick Schwartz wrote a post titled, “Rick’s FREE Domain Appraisal Service. Today ONLY!” and added it as a sponsored post on Domaining.com.

Looking at the title, you would assume that Rick was going to appraise your domain names…but if you actually took the time to read the post you would realize that is absolutely not the case. Instead Rick shared some pretty solid points about why it’s a waste of time to try to sell your domains to other Domainers and why you should instead focus on selling to end users if you want to see a good ROI.

To make it incredibly clear that he was not going to be appraising domains, Rick even ended his post by saying:

“So what’s the value of your domain name? Hell if I know. I only appraise the ones I buy with my wallet and the ones that make me laugh until I cry all day long!” (Source – RicksBlog.com)

When I scrolled down to the comment section, I was expecting to find people sharing their thoughts on selling domains to Domainers vs end users and domain valuation in general. Instead, I found that most people didn’t seem to have read the post, instead they just read the title, skipped the content, and went right down to the comment section and started asking Rick to appraise their domains.

A few people tried to point out in the comment section that everyone was missing the point and that Rick wasn’t actually appraising domains…

The crazy thing is, even after comments like these, people just kept on commenting and asking for appraisals of their domains. I keep checking back on the post every few hours and guess what…more comments with more people asking for appraisals.

At the end of the day it’s actually one of my favorite posts from Rick, but I do think that a lot of people who commented now need to go back and actually read it themselves!
