Savant Delays Their Killer Remote – Misses Holidays

Savant Remote

On Friday popular home electronics-maker Savant announced a delay on their highly anticipated “Savant Remote” – or in layman’s terms, one remote to rule them all. Known for their higher-end home automation products, Savant is going after a mass-market audience with what truly could be one remote that controls all of your devices.

“For over a decade Savant has built our reputation bringing innovative and reliable home automation to the world’s most discerning customers—and our first priority is always to deliver the best possible experience. With that in mind, we decided to take a little more time crafting our new products. We hope you’ll agree it was worth the wait.”

As a big fan of both Sonos and Apple TV I can tell you that it is annoying switching from iPhone to Apple Remote, to TV remote to control all of my devices. Savant received a $90 million dollar investment back in September of 2014 by KKR, the same Private Equity firm that bought Go Daddy back in 2011.

I appreciate this move by Savant, it’s one decision I saw us make time and time again at Sonos, a focus on quality over hitting deadlines. Yes, I’m sure Savant was dying to get this out before the holidays, but in the end, releasing a better product is always the best move in my opinion.

Still, I would have loved to be using mine already so I can’t wait to see it released in 2016, maybe at CES?
