Scam Update: DomainNames-Plus.com

So everyone’s suspicions were correct. This domain – DomainNames-Plus.com is a GoDaddy affiliate and seems to have the sale links auto-generated (incorrectly) on their page. The interesting thing is that I never listed FitnessGames(dot)us for sale on GoDaddy but since it is registered there it seems that is where this information is coming from.

I contacted the owner of the site who seems to also own a fireplace store in Rhode Island. He doesn’t even seem to know how his own site works so I decided it wasn’t worth fighting much of a battle. No harm done so I have moved-on.

Still seems a bit odd that GoDaddy would provide "For Sale" listings on affiliate pages when the domain owner never listed the name for sale. FitnessGames(dot)us is not for sale, and won’t be for some time so I was obviously surprised to see it listed for sale just a few days after finishing the site.

End result is that this site is not a scam but instead a very poorly run affiliate site run by a someone that seems to know very little about their website and certainly not meaning to cause any trouble – I don’t think they would know how to!

False alarm but still good to stay on your toes. There are a lot of scams online and more and more happening within the domaining community. Always feel free to email me at morgan@thedomainflipper.com if you have been scammed or discovered a scam that’s out there and I am happy to report it on the blog to help prevent others from falling victim.
