As many Domainers put on their Developer hats for the first time it is essential to understand how search engines deal with duplicate content. While I don’t produce any duplicate content – my own content from this blog is reproduced all over the world. Recently a blog in China re-published one of my article sending over one thousand visitors to the blog!

When someone duplicates your content and then attributes the article to you (i.e. re-publishes what you wrote) it gives you a nice boost in the eyes of the search engines. There are many intricacies for how search engines deal with duplicate content and how to ensure you rank well for the terms you are targeting. The video below from SEOMoz really should be required viewing for anyone wanting to get serious about SEO – enjoy and Happy SEO Sunday!

If I use duplicate content, article (giving credit to the original writer of course) on my website and use adsense on the same page (only that article and adsense) , is it allowed? I see many people doing this.

Good question @Anil! It is fine to use AdSense in this case. Very important to give credit to the original author 🙂
