As many of you know who have been reading my blog for years now, I’m a big fan of Afternic. I have always found their platform to be the best of the best for many reasons but over the years I did notice that the site was in need of a refresh. What I like the most about Afternic is their dedication to innovation and this new site really does take things to the next level.
However all of you know that I am a pretty positive guy so rather than just tell you that I like the new design and leave it at that I thought I’d share some of my favorite things about the new platform. Let’s start with the revamped interface for adding domains. Adding domains now happens in realtime so it feels much more like using an app on your computer or iPad than a website.
As you add domains and hit enter the domains instantly pop-up to the top, if you want to add a whole list you can just enter a space. I personally tend to add domains in batches of 2-5 at a time based on what I’ve purchased in a given week and find this new interface snappy and responsive.
Of course you can still upload a huge list of domains that you have saved in Excel which is great when you’re first uploading your portfolio to the site.
Next is portfolio management. I don’t do this myself but instead have someone that works for me that I send an updated spreadsheet to which shows which domains I’ve sold, bought, and dropped. They then go in and update this in Afternic so I’m not listing domains that I’ve already sold and making sure that all my new acquisitions end up in the platform. They have been very happy with the new interface and it all has to do with the new portfolio management UI.
Now you can move a toggle switch to move a domain from listed to not-listed, and making batch changes is easier than ever with the input boxes in the top menu. In short, batch management has become much easier which is critical when you have hundreds, thousands, or tens of thousands of domains in the platform.
Another major improvement is the domain profile which you can access by selecting the word “Profile” when hoving over any domain.
The interface is incredibly clean and responsive making it easier than ever to add a description, upgrade your promotion level, adjust domain parking details and more.
It’s a thing of beauty and I know the entire team at Afternic has been working long and hard to bring a next-generation platform to our industry. They hit it out of the park with this one and whether you are managing your portfolio yourself or have someone managing it for you I can tell you the new Afternic makes it easier than ever.
Overall it just makes me feel good to know that the listing service I’ve used for years is always looking at how to improve their interface and make the platform easier, quicker, and better for their users. Major overhauls like this are a lot of work, there are so many customers that are impacted it really has to be a step forward and it has to be perfect. Look at the other platforms around and you’ll see why Afternic is not only the largest domain marketplace in the world, it is also the most carefully designed for you, the user.
