Startup Domains Making News – Brit.co Raises $6.3M in Series A

Brit.co Site

If you haven’t heard of Brit Morin, take a moment to check-out her CrunchBase profile, she is one of the biggest movers-and-shakers in the startup world. Brit started a lifestyle blog, Brit.co in 2011 that has turned-into a very meaningful technology and media company with over 16 employees and 100+ contributing editors.

Yesterday Brit + Co announced the closing of a $6.3M Series A round led by Oak Investment Partners, and including many other well-known investors such as Lerer Ventures, entrepreneur Karl Jacob, and Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer. Brit says the company is currently growing at an 11x clip compared to this time last year so the timing was perfect for a raise.

Could the company go for Brit.com in the future? I could see this happening but for now they seem to be doing more than fine with Brit.co and since the company is called Brit + Co the .CO extension is actually a perfect fit. Just another great example of a startup with a great leader building an amazing team, huge congrats to Brit Morin for turning her dream into a reality, and then some!

Hat tip to TheDomains who I just noticed shared this news a bit earlier than I did!
