These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things From Techcrunch Disrupt NY 2015 – Day One

Techcrunch Disrupt 2015

First, often when I share a recap everyone thinks I’m at the event and sends me emails and text messages, I’m not in NYC, still here in Austin, just watching from the sidelines at 9PM to catch-up on the day. Techcrunch Disrupt is one of the biggest events in the startup space and one of my absolute favorites.

Some very cool technologies get launched and announcements get made at Disrupt, a few of my favorites highlights from today are:

Nikola Labs iPhone Case

An iPhone case that harvests electricity from the air – how cool is this? There’s not a person on this planet that doesn’t want to get more life out of their iPhones, and we’ve all been there frantically searching for a plug. Very cool concept (although scary for anyone who hold their iPhone to their head) – the device works by harvesting the RF energy emitted by the phone and turns it back into usable power for the phone.

Case Bitcoin Wallet

Finally a super-secure Bitcoin wallet – it might sound too good to be true, and it might be, but for now I’m hoping this works as I think it could really help fuel Bitcoin adoption. That being said I think Bitcoin does have a long way to go and this wallet is only a piece of the puzzle.

Box talks growth – for legal purposes I do have to say that I am a Box shareholder, I’m a shareholder because I really truly believe in their CEO Aaron Levie, he’s an inspiration of mine and one incredibly passionate guy. I like what I heard both as a Box user and a shareholder, go Aaron!
