.XYZ, the domain name extension run by 28 year-old entrepreneur Daniel Negari is gaining steam, and quickly. Last week, Daniel announced a deal with Go Daddy on Facebook, a deal that plugs .XYZ into the largest domain name distribution network in the world.
Yes, it really is “go time” and with a featured talk at the largest domain name conference in the world (DOMAINfest) it is clear that Daniel is really kicking it into high gear. Pre-registrations for .XYZ are already available and for only $14.99/each making it one of the lowest priced new gTLDs on the market.
I’ve had a number of people ask me why I’m such a fan of .XYZ and I’ll tell you why. I like .XYZ for the same reason that I love 3L .COMs, it’s short and easy-to-remember. At the same time, and unlike .COM, .XYZ has big plans to provide some very nice perks for startups branding on .XYZ domains.
You tell me, which is easier to spell and remember, MyStartup.ventures, MyStartup.holdings, or MyStartup.xyz? If you’re one of those people that thinks society as a whole will never remember any TLD except for .COM then I have to say, the 90’s called and they want their way of thinking back.
Daniel has assembled an amazing team and now with Go Daddy as a partner I can tell you this rocketship is now packed with fuel and ready for liftoff in June.
You can pre-order .XYZ at Instra, Name.com and a number of other registrars and you can meet Daniel next week in Hollywood. Huge congrats to the whole .XYZ team, I can’t wait to see what’s next!

Really? This reads like a paid promotion.
Other new gtld’s like .solutions and .photography are used as part of business names and have an actual meaning. Dot xyz means nothing really unless they can establish some sort of meaning in end-user’s minds. Then, the consumer needs to be educated as to what exactly .xyz means. That’s a lot of work ahead.
If it’s a short extension you’re after, why not choose .net or .co or eventually .web? I commend Mr. Nagari for his gutsy move in rolling out a new gtld, all props to him. But I think dot xyz really needs to build a rationale for its existence because I do not see it.
If it is such a good extension, please list five premium .xyz domains you would run your business on and/or pay more than $1,000 for.
