Weekend Deal on WooThemes

I was introduced to WooThemes back in 2008 and honestly, it was love at first sight. Yes, I’m a huge geek but honestly I have been blow-away by the WordPress Themes that WooThemes makes and I use them on a number of different blogs that I run. For those who don’t know, all WooThemes Themes are designed by professional designers which you should be able to tell pretty easily after taking a look at the quality of their themes.

WooThemes - Made by Designers
What I appreciate most about WooThemes though is that the Themes work and are completely bug-free. I have encountered endless bugs and issues with themes from ThemeForest and Elegant Themes which has eaten a lot of time from my dev team. WooThemes always just work and the interface is clean and easy to configure without writing a ton of code.

So one of the best things about WooThemes is that you can join their theme club and pay a small monthly fee (only $15/month) and have access to all their themes. They come-out with new themes every month and they are definitely on the cutting-edge of what is being done with WordPress.

Okay, so I know what you’re saying now…okay Morgan why the sudden WooThemes love-fest? Well I got an email from WooThemes and they are having a 30% off sale in celebration of their Birthday. If you’ve been waiting to sign-up for the Theme Club this brings the start-up fee from $125 down to $80 which is a pretty insane savings especially considering it’s only $15/month from that point on. Yes – I have embedded by affiliate links in this post but I am telling you about a great deal so this isn’t a completely shameless plug.

I’ve actually emailed this around to a few friends that have used these themes in the past and most have already signed-up for the club. I don’t think I’ve ever seen WooThemes give a discount like this so it’s definitely a great opportunity. The sale ends on Monday so if you want to cash-in on the deal, now is the time to do it!

A website I own uses a customised WooThemes theme, customised by one of their designers. Very high quality, with no bugs!

Morgan – what are your thoughts on the Thesis theme?

I disagree a bit with your view on ThemeForest šŸ™‚ Yes, there are a lot of themes on ThemeForest that aren’t well made, but there’s also some really good ones. You just have find out if the author is a good coder or not. For example, take a look at Orman Clark’s themes: http://themeforest.net/user/OrmanClark . His themes are certainly worth much more than $35. Freshface is another great author: http://themeforest.net/user/freshface.

I think you just got unlucky with your purchases on ThemeForest, so you should definitely give it another try šŸ™‚ I like some of WooTheme’s themes, but I prefer the wide variety of themes on ThemeForest.

But, each to his own… would be a boring world if everyone agreed on everything šŸ˜‰

@David – thanks for your comment, I’m sure there are some real gems on Themeforest. I’ve downloaded about ten themes on there all with major problems that have forced me to abandon them over time. I’ll take a look at Orman and Freshface as it sounds like they have some good themes!

Morgan I completely understand your frustration. When I first started purchasing at ThemeForest I too got unlucky with the themes I bought. But, I decided to give it another shot a year later and got lucky with my purchase. I know a lot of the themeforest authors, so if you need help finding a specific type of theme, just let me know and I’d be happy to help you find a high-quality one šŸ™‚

Yet you are using Thesis for this site? šŸ™‚ I do like Woo Themes as well. How do you think the ability to control on page seo compares with Thesis?

@David I am looking at a couple of themes at ThemeForest, RT Theme 12, http://themeforest.net/item/rttheme-12-business-theme-4-in-1-for-wordpress/153100

I have never used Elegant Themes, but they do have a couple that I like, now you have me concerned.

    Have you used Studio Press?

Thanks for sharing through your blog.

@Smac – correct, for major sites that you really want to spend a lot of time making tweaks and adjustments to I really like Thesis. That being said I make small changes to PHP, etc. on my blog all the time and Thesis is great for this. WooThemes is definitely better if you want something that is easy to configure right-away without having to write any code.

I have used Studio Press and found their themes to be okay but I find the look-and-feel of their themes to be significantly less well-designed as Woo Themes.

      Thanks for the comment!
