Weekend Musings

Noho New York City

Hello, happy Sunday and welcome to my weekend musings. We are in New York City for ten days with completely packed schedule of Fashion Metric meetings. While many people think that LA has a bustling fashion scene NYC is really the place for fashion. Yes, LA has lots of fashionable people but most of the top fashion companies, magazines, etc. are based in NYC.

Of course LA still has some awesome fashion companies and publications which is why it’s great for us to hop between both cities. What I love about NYC is the amount of meetings we can have in a day, yes, it does make for an intense schedule but that’s how we like it!

While things are incredibly busy with Fashion Metric the team at Linton Investments has also been incredibly busy over the last couple of months with two new team members starting over the last few weeks and over $700,000 in acquisition deals in the works. Soon I’ll have some of my team writing on the blog so they can share some of the lessons they’ve learned and experiences they’ve had.

There must be something in the air in NYC because I got five offers on five different domains within a day of getting here. Normally July/August are two of the slowest months for the year for end-user domain sales since many people are on vacation and not focused on buying domains. That being said this year looks to be a bit different which I think just shows how much awareness and interest in domains is growing.

It’s easy to think the Internet has been around forever but critical to remember that 95% of people have no idea that people are buying and selling domains. Many end-users think that if a domain is already registered then they have to find another. It’s up to all of us to help educate people and show the incredibly value a solid domain can provide to a business.

Okay, dinner meeting in Williamsburg coming up so it’s time to go. Last but not least I went to an awesome salon in NYC that a friend recommended and got a new hair style. Now that we’re running a fashion company I’ve decided to get more creative with my hair which is actually been a lot of fun. What do you think of the new look?
