What do I do all day?

As many of you know, I’ve been writing this blog for over a decade now, actually this October will be my 13th year blogging. Okay, but it takes me about 30 minutes a day to write a post, so…there’s a lot of time left over. At the same time, this blog is about domain investing, which is what I put my investment focus on…but as I’ve said many times, I don’t really spend any cycles on domain investing during the weekdays.

So what the heck do I do all day?

My passion is life is building great teams and creating disruptive technology. I’ve enjoyed building things since I was a kid, it started with LEGO fortresses and grew from there. If you want to learn more about my passion for product, you can read this article on wrote on Medium a while back.

Of course as a kid it’s hard to have a passion for building teams because, well, there aren’t many opportunities to do that 🤷‍♂️ That being said, as I got older I did find myself planning and organizing things a lot with different groups of friends and I feel like that was where I first really found my passion for people.

Fast forward to my first (and only) job out of college – Sonos. I started as an IC (the cool way of saying “individual contributor”) and moved into management over time. I had the opportunity to get some amazing mentorship at Sonos and learned some really fascinating things about building and motivating teams.

I knew part-way through my journey at Sonos that someday I wanted to build a company from the ground up, and eight years ago, I left Sonos and did just that. Since 2012 I’ve been running Bold Metrics, and it has been an incredible journey, we’re on a mission to fundamentally change the way clothes are made and in the process, make the apparel world more sustainable because for those keeping score, making clothes is an insanely wasteful process.

I spent my days, nights, and some weekend (yeah, that’s how it goes at a startup) working away with our incredible team executing on our vision. Recently I sat down with Esquire to share more about what we’re doing and I thought I’d share it with all of you in case you’ve always wanted to know, “what the heck does Morgan do?”
