What do you think of my new blog logo, take two!

So I wrote a post a couple of days ago about my new blog logo, which you can see above, but just to make sure you know what I’m talking about, it’s this one:

Morgan Linton's Blog

When I wrote my post last week I put an image at the top of the post that said “BLOG” in big neon letters, since it was a blog post about my blog. As you know, all my blog posts have images at the top and they’re related to the content of the post.

Well…I realize I must have confused some people because on Twitter someone thought I was proposing that my new blog logo be the word “blog” in giant neon letters.

So if you got confused, sorry about that! I was indeed talking about my new blog logo, the one you see at the top of my blog that went live earlier last week and that you can see front-and-center in this post. For years this logo was an “M” and an “L” intertwined, then I moved to a image of my face, and now I decided, let’s make it simple and just go with a nice clean “M” but hey, I’m not a designer so what do I know!

Which is why I’m interested in your feedback. So let’s try this again, what do you think of my new blog logo? Is it a keeper or should I go back to the drawing board? As always I want to hear from you, comment and let your voice be heard!

    I’m not a fan.

I didnt comment on your first post because i really wasn’t sure why. Now i now why. On your personal blog here you cover more than just domains. You cover alot of your personal experiences in your own life development, startups etc. I really like the cartoon pic of you best for that personal look/logo.

The geometric “M” looks more like a Corporate Brand, in my opinion.

Plus that M kind of messes with my eyes a bit.

In my opinion, being a small logo, the color black is a lot.

I hope and wish that all of you are in good health.

I see you have a mustache and a beard…it is a big no no now.Time to smooth shave off so the mask can be fitted snugly.
    No more beer beard.

It doesn’t stand out. I’ve seen that “M” logo on other websites too. Free logo i think.
Have a logo designer make you a new logo. You can afford it. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Your other logo was excellent and memorable. Why you changed?
The new logo, what does convey or signify? Looks like a cheap motel sign.
I personally, believe logos are meant to stay in peopleโ€™s retina and mind.

Morgan, I think the you need to work on the color selection for the logo and try and make it look simple a bit. Thank you

    Morgan,
Many times when we have something for long time, we may feel we have had it too long,
we may want or need a change or may get something better, this is a multi personal blog
with much influence from your daily life, what’s not broken don’t fix it, your previous logo
is perfect and conveys many messages in one, that M is quite cold has nothing to do with you!
    Keep save and well

OK, this isn’t going too well for the new logo but I have seen so many people look at logos as their number 1 priority that I have come to the realisation that logos dont make or break a business. I certainly didn’t read your articles because of any logo drawing me to them…

However, I hereby suggest that you have a good ol’ fashioned logo contest. Let’s get all your readers a 2 week period to draw/sketch a logo and you can then get community feedback on the winner. The winners logo will be showcased, but if you don’t get enough creative interest you stick to your logo. No prize either, just recognition.

No to the logo and big no to the background. Sorry.
The M is too stretched out and the purple behind makes it worse.
The website background seems like some noise on black.

    Hey Morgan…
I saw the first one but was mixed but wasn’t what I didn’t like so I wouldn’t give constructive feedback… I think the MORGANLINTON words on the logo are fone but the “M” looks… distracting like too many things but unclear exactly what it conveys or the inspiration for the design. The neon sign was too dark mixed with bright colors. I could be just biased towards minimalist designs that use one or two colors/themes to convey a visual message. I enjoy your blog and will still read it whatever you decide. Thanks.
